Former Miners broadcaster dies

March 2, 2009 - Former Southern Illinois Miners broadcaster Mike Lockert died late last week from an apparent heart attack.

Lockert, 43, had apparently died in his sleep, according to a report in the Marion Daily Republican. Lockert, who called Miners games in 2007, was in his seventh season as the voice of Notre Dame hockey.
