Are the RiverHawks affiliated with a major-league team?
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League. It is an independent professional league. That means the players are paid and under contract to the minor-league team, not to a big-league club. That means control of the roster remains in Rockford and not in some far-off office.

Weren't you guys the Cubbies back in the 1990s?
No.

There have been a number of professional baseball teams that have made Rockford home since 1871, when the Rockford Forest Citys were a charter member of the first major league, the National Association of Professional Baseball Teams. The Forest Citys folded after only one season, though they did produce future Hall of Famer Cap Anson, the first major-leaguer to record 3,000 hits and 1,000 RBI.

As for the Cubbies, they were a Midwest League franchise that played at Marinelli Field from 1988-99 under four nicknames - Expos, Royals, Cubbies, Reds - that reflected their major-league affiliation.
