Fans say Anthonsen is team MVP

October 2, 2008 - Frontier League batting champion Joe Anthonsen was the RiverHawks' Most Valuable Player this season, according to the most recent online poll.

The poll was one of the most popular in the site's history, with 2,551 total votes cast.

Anthonsen drew 798 votes, 31 percent of the total. Staff ace Garrett Bauer, who tied the team's career wins record and became the team's all-time strikeout king in his final Frontier League season, was second, with 575 votes (23 percent).

Shortstop Jono Brooks drew 387 votes (15 percent) and edged infielder Brad Dutton by five votes for third place. Outfielder/DH Jason James finished second to Anthonsen in the batting race, but placed fifth in online voting, with 347 votes (14 percent).

Two percent voted for infielder Robbie Knapp.
