September 15, 2008 - Voters' predictions of a pennant for the Gateway Grizzlies turned out to be off base.
Kalamazoo beat the Grizzlies in four games to knock Gateway out in the first round of the playoffs. Defending champion Windy City eliminated Southern Illinois in four games in the other division series.
Fifty-five (47 percent) of 117 voters in the recent online poll had picked the Grizzlies to win the Frontier League title. The T-Bolts, with a late surge, gained 41 votes (35 percent). Nine percent each picked the Kings and Miners. |
