T-Bolts top list of rivals
« Back

May 13, 2008 - The RiverHawks' top rivalry is their shortest, geographically speaking.

Nearly 50 percent (107 of 216) of voters in our recent online poll say defending champion Windy City is the RiverHawks' arch-rival. The ThunderBolts ended a string on nine straight losing seasons with a Frontier League championship last season. Along the way, they swept the season series from Rockford for the first time in five years and swept the RiverHawks in the first round of the playoffs.

Gateway, who fell to the 'Hawks in the 2004 playoffs, came in second with 20 percent (44) of the vote. Kalamazoo was a narrow third at 19 percent (41). Evansville, which lost to the RiverHawks in the 2004 finals and rallied from a 2-0 series deficit to shock the RiverHawks in the 2006 playoffs, gained just 11 percent (24).
