Former RiverHawk Montoya traded again

March 25, 2008 - Eric Montoya, one of the original Rockford RiverHawks, has been dealt again.

El Paso of the independent American Association traded the right-hander to Edinburg of the independent United League for future considerations on Friday. Montoya spent all or parts of 2003-07 with Edinburg. He was 6-4 with a 3.54 earned-run average and 83 strikeouts in 89 innings before the Coyotes traded him to El Paso late last season.

In 2002, Montoya's lone year with Rockford, he was 3-0 with two saves and a 5.60 ERA in 15 appearances. His season was cut short by injury.

Montoya, an eight-year veteran, has a career record of 52-21 and a 3.78 ERA.
