March 18, 2008 - The late-winter home of the Cubs, White Sox and Brewers is the best state to catch spring training, according to fans voting in a recent web poll.
Arizona edged Florida in the just-completed poll. The land of the Cactus League drew 61 (51 percent) of 119 total votes. Florida, where teams play under the Grapefruit League monicker, gained 48 votes (40 percent). Ten voters (8 percent) picked Latin America, where teams such as the Yankees and Dodgers trained in the mid-20th Century. |
