Cooper breaks steals record
« Back

September 2, 2011 - David Cooper stole five bases in Wednesday’s doubleheader and broke the RiverHawks’ single-season steals record. Cooper stole three bases in the nightcap, including the record-breaker.
In the first inning of game two, Cooper reached on an infield hit and stole second base. Jake Eigsti walked. The two pulled off a double steal – Cooper’s was the record-breaker – and a wild throw past third by catcher John Parham allowed Cooper to score from second base on the play.
Cooper has 41 steals. The old team record of 39 was set by Doug Schutt in 2004.
