August 15, 2010 - KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Kyle Wright and the Rockford bullpen combined on a five-hitter on Sunday as the RiverHawks beat Kansas City, 6-4.

The RiverHawks, who had entered the series on an eight-game win streak but were swept in a Saturday doubleheader, salvaged the finale of a three-game series. Rockford pulled into a three-way tie with Joliet and Winnipeg for the fourth and final Northern League playoff spot. Joliet won, 4-2, at Schaumburg. Winnipeg’s game against visiting Fargo was postponed because of wet field conditions. Kansas City slipped into a tie for first with Fargo.

Evan McArthur and Rich Austin homered for the RiverHawks. Austin led off the seventh inning with a go-ahead homer to left field. Jake Blackwood and Dwayne White homered for the T-Bones.

Wright (7-2) struck out a season-high nine and walked one over 6 1/3 innings. He held the T-Bones, who have a league-leading 122 home runs, to a pair of two-out, two-run shots, by Blackwood in the third inning and White in the fourth.

The Rockford bullpen didn’t give up a hit. Closer Scott Roehl pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his 14th save, one short of Josh Latimer’s six-year-old single-season club record.

Austin hit a 3-2 pitch over the Little Green Monster off Kansas City starter Reid Santos (4-5) to break a 4-4 tie in the seventh. Jason James added a sacrifice fly in the ninth.

Wright, who is unbeaten in his last nine starts and has won five straight decisions, earned his 17th victory in two years with the RiverHawks. He tied teammate Brett Durand for fourth place on Rockford’s all-time win list. Roehl, a first-year RiverHawk, tied Jason Glosser for third place on the career save list.

The RiverHawks are home for a doubleheader against Fargo at 6:05 p.m. Monday.
