July 2, 2010 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks have picked up an infielder and a pitcher.

Rockford’s only professional baseball team announced on Friday that it has signed utility player John Wagle and pitcher David Wagner. The RiverHawks also placed second baseman David Cooper on the 7-day disabled list and released pitcher Greg Stolzenburg.

Wagle, a rookie from Augustana College, hit .256 with nine RBI in 20 games with San Angelo of the independent United League. He played second base, third base and outfield for the Colts.

Wagner had no record, a 5.68 earned-run average and no saves in four appearances last year with St. Paul of the independent American Association.

Cooper was placed on the DL because of a broken bone in his hand. He is hitting .297 with seven RBI. Cooper, who had reached base in 22 straight games, was hit in the hand by a pitch Sunday in Winnipeg. Stolzenburg had no record, a 18.00 ERA and no saves in three appearances.

The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league in its 18th season.
