June 18, 2010 - GARY, Ind. – Friday’s game between the Rockford RiverHawks and Gary SouthShore RailCats was suspended because of rain. The RiverHawks led, 2-1, after three innings when thunderstorms brought play to a halt for the night.

Play will resume at 6 p.m. Saturday, with the regularly scheduled game, shortened to seven innings, to follow.

Friday’s start was delayed by 2 hours, nine minutes because of an earlier line of thunderstorms.

In the third inning, the RiverHawks rallied for two runs to take the lead. Jason James tied the game with a RBI groundout. Rich Austin singled to right field to drive in the go-ahead run.

Saturday’s games are not scheduled for broadcast.

The RiverHawks are home at 6:05 p.m. Monday to finish another suspended game, against Fargo-Moorhead, and play the regularly scheduled game. It’s the WIFR-Channel 23 Buyout Night.

The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league in its 18th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255. Games are broadcast live on ESPN 1380 (WTJK-AM) and on ESPN1380.com.
