RiverHawks to treat Boys and Girls Club to game

May 3, 2010 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Members of the Rockford Boys and Girls Club will get to enjoy a RiverHawks game this summer courtesy of Rockford’s only professional baseball team.

The RiverHawks announced today that it is treating the Boys & Girls Club to a day at the stadium on Friday, June 4. Not only will the kids get to attend that night’s game against Fargo-Moorhead, but they will also visit the Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest that afternoon in the stadium parking lot.

“We’re expecting 500-plus Boys and Girls Club little leaguers and coaches,” RiverHawks general manager Josh Olerud said.

The event is part of the annual kickoff to the Boys and Girls club baseball season, sponsored this year by Pepsi. All teams will take part in a pregame parade on the field and be introduced to the fans before that night’s 7:05 p.m. game.

The Principal Financial Group Family Fun Fest, which includes inflatable rides, games and a traveling baseball history museum, is open 4-7 p.m. that afternoon. The Fun Fest is free for fans with tickets for that night’s game.

The RiverHawks are members of the Northern League, an eight-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 18th season this summer. The RiverHawks’ ninth season begins at 7:05 p.m. May 20 against the Schaumburg Flyers at Road Ranger Stadium. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255.
