Ex-'Hawk James plays for Cubs
« Back

March 21, 2010 - Former Rockford RiverHawk Jason James made history on Sunday with a groundout for the Chicago Cubs in their 1-1 exhibition tie against the Cincinnati Reds.

James, who pinch-hit for Carlos Silva in the third inning, became the first former RiverHawk to play even a spring-training game at the major-league level.

James, who won the Frontier League batting title last season, signed with the
Cubs in September. He holds most of the RiverHawks' career batting records.
