Ex-RiverHawk Paduch pitches pennant winner

September 14, 2009 - Former Rockford RiverHawk Jim Paduch pitched and won the deciding game of the independent American Association finals on Sunday as Lincoln won, 2-1, at Pensacola.

Paduch gave up a run on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings as the Saltdogs edged the Pelicans in Game 5 of the best-of-5 series. Paduch was 3-0 with a 1.31 earned-run average in four postseason appearances.

Paduch was 7-5 with a 4.79 ERA during the regular season.

Paduch was the RiverHawks' opening-night starter last year. He was 3-6 with a 5.07 ERA with Rockford, which dealt him to Lincoln last July.
