June 2, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Road Ranger Stadium, home of the Rockford RiverHawks professional baseball team, will be the new home of the ever-growing Taste of Rockford. The annual summer event will be held June 18 – 20, 2009, and will feature fine cuisine from local restaurants and performances by national touring music acts.
“This location is perfect for a great concert venue and we can offer better parking options for all the festival-goers,” says Mark Reeser, Vice President of the Taste. “The natural pitch of the parking lot will give terrific viewing opportunities of the bands.”
The Rockford RiverHawks are excited to provide the site of this popular event. “This is a win-win,” says Chris Daleo, Director of Operations for the RiverHawks. “We are happy and proud to be partnering with the Taste. We anticipate this to be an annual event.”
The Taste has a long lineup of food and music. New this year will be an event on Thursday evening called “Taste Our Local Cuisine.” It will showcase a sample-size “taste” of each participating local restaurant’s signature item. In addition to the food, a variety of entertainment will be at the festival, ranging from jazz to country to rock. Friday, June 19, is Country Night, featuring the Smokin’ Gunz and Penny Mae Dixon. Saturday night is Rock Night, with Dot Dot Dot as the premiere group.
As part of a promotion of the Taste, Penny Mae Dixon will give a postgame performance in front of the Cousin’s Bar & Grill in the Outfield on Wednesday, June 10, following the RiverHawks’ game against the Windy City ThunderBolts.

The Rockford RiverHawks are the most highly attended minor-league baseball team in the Stateline. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league playing its 17th season this summer.
