'Hawks winless in homestand with 4-2 loss

May 31, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Lake Erie Crushers posted three runs in the top of the second inning, including a two-run double from Arden McWilliams, to hand the Rockford RiverHawks a 4-2 defeat on Sunday. The RiverHawks have lost seven in a row and have lost their first six games of the season at Road Ranger Stadium.

Brent Lysander (1-0) pitched effectively for the Crushers. He gave up only one run in six and one-third innings of work. Twelve groundball outs were recorded by Lysander. Jacinto Gonell struck out the last batter of the eighth and pitched a perfect ninth to earn his first save. Jay Monti (1-2) received his second straight loss.

The RiverHawks fall to 2-8 on the season. After a day off on Monday, they begin a six-game road trip on Tuesday night at 6:05 p.m. CDT against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks play their home opener at 7:05 p.m. May 26 against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti. The RiverHawks host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15.
