Diocese to sponsor Faith Nights
« Back

March 20, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Catholic Diocese of Rockford is inviting Stateline families to attend one or both of its two Faith Nights scheduled for Rockford RiverHawks baseball games this summer.

The diocese, through an anonymous donor, is sponsoring Faith Nights on June 9 and 23. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. starts at Road Ranger Stadium.

In addition to the typical family-friendly fun at a RiverHawks game, the Faith Night entertainment will include pregame and postgame concerts by the TLC Praise Band featuring longtime RiverHawks sponsor Tim Javurek, along with Christian games and activities.

Families and groups are asked to register for one or both games in advance to ensure they receive tickets. Each group will be recognized over the stadium public-address system and one will be selected to sing during the seventh-inning stretch.

“If you don’t get the diocese publication, which has the official ticket form, then please contact us,” RiverHawks general manager Josh Olerud said. “All churches are welcome. We want to see as many churches as possible represented in the stadium.”

For more information, contact RiverHawks director of operations Chris Daleo at (815) 885-2255.

The Rockford RiverHawks are the most highly attended minor-league baseball team in the Stateline. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, May 21 at Windy City and play their home opener at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday, May 26 against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti. The RiverHawks host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255.
