March 5, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Former Chicago baseball stars Keith Moreland and Dan Pasqua are in the lineup for the Cubs-White Sox Legends Game.

The Rockford RiverHawks will host the game featuring former major-league stars as part of their two-day Frontier League All-Star celebration. The Legends Game is scheduled for 6 p.m. July 14 at Road Ranger Stadium. Tickets, which include admission to that night’s All-Star Home Run Derby, are $15 for infield and home-plate box seats, $10 for outfield box. A two-day pass, which includes admission to the July 15 Frontier League All-Star Game, is $25, $20 for outfield box.

“It will be fun to see these two Chicagoland favorites in action,” RiverHawks general manager Josh Olerud said.

Moreland was a member of both the Cubs’ 1984 National League East championship team and Philadelphia’s 1980 World Series-winning Phillies. Moreland arrived in the majors as a catcher in 1978, but spent most of his career at five other positions. In 1985, Moreland hit .307 with 14 home runs and 106 RBI for the Cubs. He hit .279 in a 12-year career with the Phillies, Cubs, San Diego, Detroit and Baltimore.

Pasqua spent 10 years in the majors as an outfielder-first baseman for the New York Yankees and the White Sox. In 1988, Pasqua’s first year in the South Side, he hit .227 with 20 home runs and 50 RBI. He hit .244 in his big-league career.

Former Cub Bob Dernier and Steve Trout, who pitched for both Chicago teams, will be the team captains. Additional stars will be announced as the event draws closer.

“We’ve already got a great response,” Olerud said. “With all the former major leaguers coming to the event, we have had a number of ticket requests from outside the area. With the great following the Cubs and Sox have developed throughout the Midwest, we anticipate many people travelling from outside the area to be part of a sellout crowd.”

Tickets for all All-Star events, including the Legends Game, are currently reserved for fans who purchase a season ticket, mini-plan or bonus book. Ticket plans start as low as $50 and can be purchased in person at the stadium box office or by calling (815) 885-BALL.

The Home Run Derby follows the Legends Game at 8:30 p.m.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. May 21 at Windy City and play their home opener at 7:05 p.m. May 26 against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti. The RiverHawks host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255.
