January 28, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Baseball fans can look forward to postgame fireworks, dollar-beer nights and premium giveaway items this summer.

The Rockford RiverHawks announced their 2009 promotional calendar Wednesday and staples such as the FatWallet.com Friday Night Fireworks series and Miller Lite Dollar Beer Night will be joined by a new bobblehead-doll series, the “Blue Out” T-shirt night and the return of the Father’s Day father-son catch.

The home opener at Road Ranger Stadium is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. May 26, when the RiverHawks host the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti. Fans will be treated to fireworks following the game.

Fireworks are scheduled for every Friday home game, the July 2 game and the home finale on Sept. 6.

Weekend starting times have been moved up. Saturday games are scheduled for 6:05 p.m. and Sunday games for 4:05 p.m. Weeknight start times remain 7:05 p.m.

Each Saturday home game features a premium giveaway item for early arrivals. This year’s bobblehead series features Andre Dawson (May 30), Mark Grace (July 18) and Sammy Sosa (Aug. 29).

On June 21, the RiverHawks celebrate Father’s Day with a Father/Son Catch following the game. Participants will receive a RiverHawks baseball, sponsored by OSF St. Anthony’s.

The “Blue Out” night, scheduled for Aug. 15 and sponsored by Rockford Health Systems and Rock Valley College, takes a college-basketball staple – an arena full of fans wearing team colors – and applies it to Road Ranger Stadium. The first 3,000 fans in the gates will receive a blue RiverHawks T-shirt.

Other giveaways include 2nd Cousins Rally Towels Night (May 31), Baseball Card Nights (June 12 and Aug. 28), Power Connection Mesh Hat Night (June 13), the Hemmens Cultural Center T-shirt night (July 2), Finnegan’s RV Pillowcase Night (July 25), Dr Pepper Player Mugshot Nights (July 19, Aug. 2 and Aug. 16), Dr Pepper Team Poster Night (Aug. 30) and Axberg Heating Long Sleeve T-shirt Night (Sept. 5).

In addition to Fridays, other weekly promotions were announced. The ever-popular Dollar Beer Night remains a Thursday staple. Saturdays are Gold Canyon/Ronnie Gators/Suite Bronzing Spa Ladies Nights. Kids can run the bases following Family Night games on Sundays.

New promotions were announced for Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Tuesdays are 2-for-1 Tuesdays, when tickets are available at a buy-one, get-one-free rate. Hot dogs are also BOGO when purchased at a concession stand. Wednesdays are Family Value Nights, when just $40 gets a family four outfield-box tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. May 21 at Windy City and play their home opener at 7:05 p.m. May 26 against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti.
