January 14, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Frontier League All-Star Game will have greater media exposure than ever before.

This year’s midsummer classic, set for 7:05 p.m. July 15 at Road Ranger Stadium and hosted by the Rockford RiverHawks, will be broadcast live on both television and radio. Comcast Sports Net Chicago will televise the game live. WTJK-AM (ESPN 1380) will air the contest live on the radio.

“We are the platform to showcase Rockford and the Frontier League to millions of people on a day where there are no other professional sports,” RiverHawks general manager Josh Olerud said.

The Frontier League’s midsummer classic takes place the day after the major-league All-Star Game. No teams in a major-league sport are active that day.

Tickets for the All-Star Game are $15. A two-day pass for all events at Road Ranger Stadium is $25. Tickets are currently available only to fans with full or partial-season ticket plans. An all-star ticket is included with purchase of a full-season plan. Call (815) 885-BALL for ticket information.

Comcast’s broadcast marks the all-star game’s return to television after an absence of two years. It is the first time the league’s all-star game has been broadcast live.

Comcast SportsNet Chicago (CSN Chicago) is a member of the Comcast Sports network of regional sports networks that covers local sports teams in the Chicago area. It broadcasts to Illinois, Indiana, Iowa and Wisconsin. Comcast Sports Net is available in the Rockford area on cable channel 58 for Comcast subscribers.

WTJK, based in Janesville, Wisc. is ESPN radio’s local affiliate. It’s local broadcast reach includes Winnebago and Boone counties in Illinois and Rock County in Wisconsin, along with portions of Ogle, DeKalb, Stephenson and McHenry counties.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. May 21 at Windy City and play their home opener at 7:05 p.m. May 26 against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti. The RiverHawks host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15. Fans can visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
