RiverHawks offer Big Ticket, Santa Pack
« Back

December 1, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Thanks to sellouts on nearly a quarter of the home schedule, some Rockford RiverHawks fans spent some key nights last summer unable to get a seat.

The Rockford RiverHawks announced a solution for fans who can’t make it to many games, but want to catch key nights such as Opening Night, the annual bobblehead doll series and Fan Appreciation Night. The team announced Monday its Big Ticket five-game plan and a Santa Pack, each starting at just $40.

The Big Ticket Nights include the home opener on May 26 and the regular-season finale on Sept. 6. Dates for the three bobblehead nights, which will feature former Chicago Cubs Andre Dawson, Mark Grace and Sammy Sosa, are yet to be determined.

The Santa Pack is a flex plan that allows fans to pick a ticket for any five games on the 2009 schedule.

Fans that purchase either five-game plan and pay in full by Dec. 23 will receive a $5 gift card good for use at the Road Ranger team store beginning with the RiverHawks’ annual Christmas sale and donation drive, scheduled for Dec. 13.

“In 2008, we offered a five-game plan for the first time and we had a tremendous response,” director of ticketing Brad Sholes said. “We had a number of fans come from as far away as Indiana to take advantage of the bobblehead doll nights. Whether you are coming from out of town or are simply unable to commit to a longer plan, the Big Ticket will get you into the park on the nights we are packed.”

The only way fans can guarantee a bobblehead doll on those nights is by being among the first 1,000 in the stadium that night or by purchasing a Big Ticket. The Big Ticket or the Santa Pack is $40 for an outfield box seat, $50 for infield box and $60 for home-plate box.

“Many gift-givers prefer to buy presents that offer flexibility, such as gift cards,” Sholes said. “The Santa Pack allows the recipient to choose when they want to come.”

The RiverHawks sold out 11 of their 50 home dates last season, including three of the games offered on the Big Ticket. The team also offers 10- and 20-game plans as well as a season ticket for all 48 regular-season home dates.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season in 2009. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season in May and host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15.
