August 9, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Four Rockford pitchers combined on a six-hitter on Saturday and the RiverHawks scored the go-ahead run on an eighth-inning error in a 2-1 win over Midwest.

Closer James Cramphin (3-3) recorded the final five outs to win in relief for Rockford, in front of a near-sellout crowd of 3,209 at Road Ranger Stadium. The RiverHawks, who have won seven of their last nine games, stayed two games behind Gateway in the race for the Frontier League’s final postseason berth. The Grizzlies won, 5-2, at Kalamazoo.

Rockford never trailed. With two outs in the first inning, Jason James doubled and Robbie Knapp singled him home. Sean Snell hit a game-tying RBI double in the second inning.

In the eighth inning, Midwest reliever Shawn Ravenscraft (0-3) gave up an unearned run. Joe Anthonsen led off with a walk, stole second base and went to third on Carlos Rivera’s single. With one out, pinch-runner Boe Baitinger stole second base to force the Sliders to play the infield in. Anthonsen scored when second baseman Eric Reese bobbled Knapp’s grounder.

The series finale is at 6:05 p.m. Sunday. It’s Kmart/Feldco Family Night. Kids can run the bases after the game. Early arrivals will receive a Rocko the RiverHawk souvenir magnet. It’s also Boys and Girls Club Night.
