June 21, 2008 - EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Eight was more than enough for the RiverHawks Saturday night.
A second inning that featured six straight hits plated eight runs as Rockford topped the Evansville Otters 9-1. The RiverHawks took two of three to start their nine-game road swing.
Aaron Davis started the fun in the second as he was hit by a Michael Hyde (1-4) pitch. Davis took second on a balk and scored on Jono Brooks’ single. Lucas Hulsey singled, Brooks stole third and scored on Joe Anthonsen’s base hit. A Matt Borman single loaded the bases before Jason James drove in two with a double to make the score 4-0.
Greg Burrows then singled, plating Borman and James. Burrows stole second and scored on a Brad Dutton single, and Dutton scored on Brooks’ RBI triple to make the score 8-0 as Hyde was knocked out of the game.
Rockford added another run on Jason James’ run-scoring single off Mike Damchuk in the third.
Garrett Bauer (3-2) earned the win with seven shutout innings. He allowed five hits and four walks. Bauer struck out six.
The RiverHawks continue their road trip with a three-game series in Windy City, starting at 6:05 p.m. Sunday
The RiverHawks return home Saturday, June 28 for the start of a three-game series against Gateway and a six-game homestand. The first 1000 fans into the June 28 contest receive a Billy Williams bobblehead, sponsored by BOB FM and WIFR.
