June 15, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks signed first baseman Scott Talbert and placed pitcher Drew Himes on the 14-day disabled list prior to Sunday’s game against Kalamazoo.
Talbert, 22, is a true rookie out of Missouri Baptist University. He hit .359 with a team-high 14 home runs and 50 RBI for the Spartans. He was a two-time American Midwest Conference all-league selection.
Himes went on the disabled list because of arm fatigue. He was 1-0 with a save and a 2.35 ERA in eight relief appearances.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 16th season.
