RiverHawks trade for outfielder
« Back

April 15, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks announced Tuesday that acquired outfielder Corey Stang from Schaumburg of the independent Northern League in exchange for a player to be named later.

Stang never played for the Flyers. Schaumburg signed him as a free agent in January after he split 2007 with the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the Northern League and the Quebec Capitales of the independent Can-Am League. Ironically, Stang was sent from Quebec to Winnipeg last July 31 as the player to be named later in a prior trade. He hit a combined .304 with three home runs and 36 RBI in 77 games last season.

Stang, a career .313 hitter, has 1-Year status in the Frontier League.

Opening Night is at 7:05 p.m. May 21, when the RiverHawks host River City at Road Ranger Stadium. The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 16th season this summer. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Most games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
