February 25, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks signed two potential batterymates on Monday.
The team announced the signing of pitcher Josh Jarman and catcher Brad Meier.
Jarman missed last season after playing independent baseball in 2005-06. In 2005, the reliever was 2-2 with a save and a 5.33 earned-run average in 18 appearances with Surprise of the Golden League. Two years ago, Jarman was 0-1 with a 5.58 ERA in 19 games with St. Joseph of the American Association. He has Rookie-2 status in the Frontier League.
Meier is a true rookie out of Illinois Central College. He hit .278 with two home runs and 18 RBI and seven steals. Behind the plate, Meier threw out 40 percent of attempted base stealers. Meier moonlighted as a pitcher and was 2-1 with two saves and a 2.63 ERA.
