Brewers sign ex-RiverHawk Dickert
« Back

January 17, 2008 - LOVES PARK, Ill. - Former RiverHawk Reed Dickert, a late-season pickup who helped pitch Rockford into the 2007 playoffs, has been signed by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Dickert, who returned to the Orange County Flyers of the independent Golden League last fall, will pitch for Brevard County of the high Class A Florida State League, according to the GL website. Rockford closer Mike Marksbury spent the second half of last season there after he was picked up by the Brewers.

Dickert was 6-3 with a 4.42 earned-run average in 17 appearances with the Flyers. He struck out 112 and walked just 46 in 85 2/3 innings.

He made two starts within the last four days of the season after a trade to Rockford. Dickert struck out 14, two less than the team record, in a 2-0 shutout in the nightcap of a Aug. 30 doubleheader at Kalamazoo. He pitched on two days' rest in the season finale and got a no-decision in the RiverHawks' 2-1 win.
