RiverHawks win, 5-4, on Anthonsen’s walkoff hit

August 15, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Joe Anthonsen hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Rockford RiverHawks beat the Evansville Otters, 5-4, at Road Ranger Stadium.

The RiverHawks, who had lost a 3-0 lead earlier in the game, got their first walkoff win since the last series the Otters played at Road Ranger Stadium, July 31 of last season.

Rockford scored in the third inning on a Brad Dutton RBI groundout and a two-run double by Justus Kimbrough. The ‘Hawks added a run on Jono Brooks’ RBI single in the fourth inning.

Evansville’s Mike Spry tied the game at 4-4 with a two-out, two-run homer to left in the fifth inning.

In the ninth inning, Kyle Pawelczyk (0-3) departed after back-to-back, one-out walks. Mike Bille entered and gave up an infield hit to Brooks that loaded the bases. Anthonsen then grounded a ball through the right side of the infield.

Dave Dowling (5-5) retired all seven hitters he faced and won in relief.

The RiverHawks go for a sweep of the three-game series at 7:05 p.m. on Thirsty Thursday. It’s the final Miller Lite/104.9 – the X Dollar Beer Night.
