Windy City beats RiverHawks, 4-1

August 10, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Windy City pitcher Amos Ramon hadn’t faced more than nine hitters in an appearance all season. On Friday, he went six innings into the game and beat the RiverHawks, 4-1.

Ramon (4-0) scattered a run on eight hits over six innings. He struck out five without a walk. The RiverHawks left 10 on base, in front of 2,984 at Road Ranger Stadium.

The ThunderBolts never trailed. They scored twice in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie. Gilberto Mejia singled in a run to put Windy City in front and Scott Balster later scored on an error.

Garrett Bauer lost for the first time since July 4. Bauer (5-4) gave up three runs, two earned, on six hits over five innings. He walked five, threw two wild pitches and struck out three.

Brad Dutton was 3-for-5 and, in the third inning, doubled home Rockford’s lone run.

The RiverHawks head to Crestwood for the last two games of the series. Start times are 7:05 p.m. Saturday and 3:05 p.m. Sunday.

The ‘Hawks are home at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday for the Clodius/Eagle Diamond Dig. Ladies are invited to the field following the game to dig for a real diamond ring. In addition, the first 1,000 get a RiverHawks T-shirt, courtesy of MetLife. Ronnie Gators, Curves and Barefoot Wines sponsor Ladies Night.
