July 16, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks have hit the 50,000 attendance mark earlier than in any previous season.

The RiverHawks welcomed their 50,000th fan into Road Ranger Stadium on Friday, their 20th opening of the 2007 season. Last year, the RiverHawks did not hit 50,000 until their 23rd opening, July 6, 2006.

The RiverHawks have sold out three of their last four home games, including a stadium-record 4,481 on July 3. After a sellout crowd of 3,927 on Sunday, the team has now drawn 57,314 in 22 dates, an average of 2,605.

Last year, the team set a record by drawing 115,776 to the ballpark, an average of 2,463. At the current pace, the RiverHawks will pass that mark in their 45th opening.

“We have been a consistent draw due to the professionalism of the RiverHawks staff and how we take pride in on enhancing the entire fan experience,” general manager Josh Olerud said. “We anticipate great crowds in the second half due to a jam-packed promotional calendar and playoff race baseball.”

The stadium’s listed capacity is 3,279.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season. Advertising and ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Some games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM) and the internet.
