June 12, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Mike Marksbury got the save. Jason James saved the game.

The Rockford right fielder’s leaping catch at the wall prevented Brad Vericker’s fly from tying the game and ended the RiverHawks’ 5-4 win over Traverse City. At the plate, James was 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Marksbury, who pitched a perfect ninth inning for his fourth save, capped a near-perfect night for the Rockford bullpen at Road Ranger Stadium. Drew Himes, Ryan Brnardic and Marksbury combined for four scoreless innings of relief. The Beach Bums didn’t have a hit after the sixth inning.

After Traverse City scored an unearned run in the top of the second, James answered in the bottom half with a RBI double. He later scored on a groundout as Rockford took a 2-1 lead.

The Beach Bums scored twice in the fifth inning, when Vericker hit a sacrifice fly to right field and Justin Holmes scored on a delayed double steal. Rockford again answered in the bottom half. Three straight two-out RBI singles from Joey Huskins, Will Henderson and James gave Rockford a 5-3 lead and drove Traverse City starter Buddy Klovstad (0-2) from the game.

Rockford starter Shaun Parker (3-1) pitched into the sixth inning and got the win.
