RiverHawks, Joliet tie again

May 12, 2007 - JOLIET, Ill. - The Rockford RiverHawks and Joliet Jackhammers once again tied in their two-game, interleague exhibition series. On Saturday, the teams traded ninth-inning rallies and settled for a 4-4 tie.

Ryan Schmidt hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to put Rockford in front, 4-3, but in the bottom of the inning, Matt Leake drove in the tying run with a groundout.

The RiverHawks rallied from a 3-0 deficit. In the fifth, Brandon Cohen and Roberto Valiente each singled home a run.

The Frontier League's RiverHawks and the Northern League's Jackhammers played to an 11-11 tie on Thursday at Road Ranger Stadium. Rockford's exhibition schedule continues on Monday with two more interleague exhibitions against NL opponents. The RiverHawks are scheduled to play at 11:30 a.m. at Gary and at 5 p.m. at Schaumburg.
