« Back

April 3, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks are in search of players looking for opportunity.

The team has scheduled its second annual post-draft tryout for Monday, June 11 at RiverHawks Stadium. College players who have completed their eligibility and are not selected in June’s major-league draft are invited to try out for the RiverHawks. MLB organizations have signed seven players directly off the team’s roster in the last five years and in that span two players have been named by Baseball America magazine to its Independent League All-Star Team.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the tryout begins promptly at 9 a.m. The cost for registration is $25.

Although the tryout’s focus is high-quality college seniors, players with prior professional experience are also invited.

The RiverHawks also have a previously announced open tryout scheduled for May 5 at RiverHawks Stadium. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and tryouts begin at 9 a.m. The registration fee is $50 and includes a tryout camp T-shirt.

The RiverHawks are the Western Division champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 15th season in 2007. The RiverHawks begin their sixth season on May 23 at Windy City. The home opener is at 7:05 p.m. May 25, when the RiverHawks host Windy City. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. All games are broadcast live on WNTA (1330 AM).
