August 26, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Riley Oberg is the 100,000th fan through the gates at RiverHawks Stadium this summer.

Oberg, an 8-year-old from Genoa, attended the RiverHawks’ 3-2 win over River City on Thursday. He marks the third year in a row 100,000 fans have enjoyed RiverHawks baseball. The team opened RiverHawks Stadium this season after four years at Marinelli Field.

The team expects to draw its record-breaking 103,249th fan for Saturday’s 6:05 p.m. doubleheader against the Rascals.

Oberg threw out a ceremonial first pitch, sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” during the seventh-inning stretch and launched fireworks via remote control at the end of the song. Oberg attended the game with his father Brian, mother Lora, and sisters Mackensie and Kendra.

“Riley really didn't know how to react to the exciting news that he was the 100,000 fan of the 2006 Rockford RiverHawks season at the new stadium,” Brian Oberg said. “He really enjoyed the spotlight events and hanging around Rocko (the mascot).”

The young fan received free upgrades of his family’s box seats to premium seats, a stadium T-shirt, baseball, logo bracelet, folder, pen, stickers, beanie, stickers, bag and RiverHawks Dice Baseball game.

On Saturday, the RiverHawks will break their year-old attendance record of 103,248. That lucky fan will get merchandise from the RiverHawks Team Store, four tickets to the first RiverHawks playoff game of 2006, two miniplans for the 2007 season, and $200 worth of vouchers to the Chicago/Rockford International Airport.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league in its 14th season in 2006. Advertising, ticket and suite information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. All games are broadcast live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 – the Hub and online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
