RiverHawks beat Florence, 7-1, complete sweep

June 22, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Garrett Bauer took a shutout into the eighth inning and combined with the Rockford bullpen on a six-hitter as the RiverHawks beat Florence, 7-1, on Thursday. The RiverHawks completed a three-game series sweep, in front of 2,758 at RiverHawks Stadium.

The RiverHawks outscored Florence, 17-2, in the series and never trailed in the three games.

On Thursday, RBI singles from Steve Holdren and Mike Bidwell gave the RiverHawks a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Gooby Gerlits doubled the lead in the fourth inning with his third home run of the year.

Bauer (3-2) struck out a season-high six in 7 2/3 innings. Rockford knocked Florence starter Mitch Goins (2-3) out of the game during a three-run seventh inning.

The RiverHawks have won four in a row and host Chillicothe at 7:05 p.m. Friday in a meeting of division leaders. The Fat Wallet.com Friday Night Fireworks series follows the game.
