June 16, 2006 - EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Evansville Otters spoiled the opening of RiverHawks Stadium by taking two out of three games from Rockford in the first games ever played there, and they continued their success on Friday night. The Otters took the early lead against the RiverHawks, and Rockford could not recover.

Evansville scored once in the first, once more in the third, and three times in the fourth off starting pitcher Tanner Watson (1-1) making his second start of the season.

Rockford brought it back to within two in the fifth against Matt Restivo (1-0), making his first professional start. Joe Anthonsen singled in a run, and Bo Flowers followed that with a two-run home run to left field to cut the deficit to 5-3.

Evansville scored a couple of insurance runs against reliever Tom Lyons in the sixth on an RBI double by Dale Mueller, who drove in three runs on the night, and a balk by Dave Dowling that scored Mueller.

Manager J.D. Arndt came out to argue the balk and was ejected from the game.

The RiverHawks will play the second game of the three-game series at 7:05 on Saturday. They will begin a six-game homestand on Tuesday following a league-wide off day on Monday.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 14th season in 2006. Advertising, ticket and suite information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255.
