RiverHawks get Flowers

June 14, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks today announced that they have signed veteran outfielder Bo Flowers to a contract.

Flowers, 22, was released earlier this week by the Windy City ThunderBolts. The Maywood native hit .242 with no home runs and six RBI in 18 games.

Detroit drafted Flowers in the fifth round of the 2002 draft. He played three years for the Tigers’ rookie and Class A farm clubs. Last season, he signed with the Chicago Cubs and spent the year with their Class A Midwest League affiliate. Flowers hit .238 with eight home runs and 49 RBI for the Peoria Chiefs.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 10-team independent professional baseball league in its 14th season.
