May 29, 2006 - On Saturday, Rocko made a special appearance at the Rockford Young at Heart Parade celebrating the Memorial weekend. The RiverHawks' mascot marched north on 2nd Street from Forest Hills with Rockford-area sports teams and the mascots for the Rock River Raptors and the Rockford Ice Hogs.
Once the parade ended, Rocko enjoyed himself and entertained those in attendance at the festival. He was even able to show off his driving skills in the bumper cars.
But the real meaning was not lost in the fun. "It was a nice mix of organizations and businesses, showing their appreciation and support for those in the armed forces who have sacrficed so much for the freedoms we enjoy," RiverHawks' coordinator Adam Lewis said. |
