April 25, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks are filling a key vacancy in the starting rotation with an experienced pitcher.

The RiverHawks announced that veteran right-hander Drew Endicott will join the starting rotation. The projected No. 3 starter in the rotation was an offseason free-agent signing.

Endicott split last year between Kansas City’s high A and AAA affiliates. He was 2-3 with a save and a 6.40 earned-run average in 42 appearances with High Desert of the California League. He was 1-0 with a 1.50 ERA in two appearances with Wichita of the Texas League.

The Royals drafted Endicott out of Missouri, the same school as RiverHawks pitching coach/pitcher Derek Roper attended, with their 41st-round pick in the 2002 draft. He has a 24-14 career record, seven saves and a 4.25 ERA in four professional seasons.

The regular season begins on the road May 24, when the RiverHawks open with a six-game road trip to Windy City and River City. Opening Day at RiverHawks Stadium is 7:05 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, when the ‘Hawks host the Evansville Otters. Advertising, season-ticket and suite information is available by calling the box office at (815) 885-2255. Fans can also visit the RiverHawks online at www.rockfordriverhawks.com.
