April 19, 2006 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks are adding some South Side star power to Fan Fest 2006.

Today, the RiverHawks announced former Chicago White Sox outfielder Ron Kittle will be on the guest list for their annual fan event, scheduled for 12-5 p.m. Sunday, May 7 at JD’s Sports Bar and Grill, 908 W. Riverside. Kittle, a former Rookie of the Year, and four-time batting champion, Bill Madlock, a former Cub, will be available to meet fans, sign autographs and take questions from the crowd.

The weekend kicks off 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, May 6, with a Meet Your Seat event at the new stadium. Fans will have the chance to choose their seat by buying season tickets. The RiverHawks will provide tours of the stadium, as well as complimentary hot dogs and beverages. In addition, the RiverHawks will premier their state-of-the-art Kids Zone inflatable play areas.

Fans who purchase a full-season ticket package at the event will have special VIP status at Fan Fest, May 7 at JD’s. Not only will they receive a free ticket to Fan Fest for every season ticket purchased, but they will have exclusive access to Madlock, Kittle and the other guests for the first 30 minutes of Fan Fest. In addition, they can bring up to two items to be autographed by each celebrity. Other fans can enter the autograph line at 12:30 p.m. and are limited to one autograph per celebrity.

Kittle is one of just five White Sox to have won the American League Rookie of the Year Award. The list includes current manager Ozzie Guillen and Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio. Kittle won the 1983 award by hitting .254 with 35 home runs and 100 RBI – all career highs – for the AL West-winning Sox. Kittle had three stints with the Sox in a 10-year career that included stops with the New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles.

In 1982, Kittle hit 50 homers for Edmonton, Chicago’s top farm club, and added one in a September promotion to the majors. Both Baseball America and The Sporting News named him Minor League Player of the Year.

Other special guests will include current and former RiverHawks, former Rockford Peaches, members of the coaching staff and Rocko the RiverHawk.

Tickets for the event are just $6 each, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity. Fans will also have the chance to purchase season-ticket packages and guarantee a seat at the first game at the RiverHawks’ new stadium.
