T-Bones bash four homers as 'Hawks fall, 11-4

August 27, 2010 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Gabriel Martinez hit two home runs on Friday as the Kansas City T-Bones beat the Rockford RiverHawks, 11-4.

Martinez was 3-for-4 with three RBI. He has three homers in four Northern League games. Ray Sadler hit his 20th homer of the year and Keanon Simon hit his sixth for the T-Bones, who have won four in a row.

Victor Diaz homered for the RiverHawks, in front of a capacity crowd at Road Ranger Stadium. The audience of 3,518 was the 12th of the year, a new team record.

Rockford has lost three of its last four and is three games under the .500 mark, at 44-47, with nine left to play.

KC rallied for three runs in the top of the third inning to take a 4-3 lead and led the rest of the way. Sadler drove in the go-ahead run on an infield single off Rockford starter Mike Wood. Wood (3-7) gave up three homers on Friday. He’s given up nine homers in three starts, all losses, against the T-Bones.

KC starter Cody McAllister (11-5) gave up four runs on six hits over seven innings. He struck out five and walked one. McAllister is the first Northern League pitcher to reach 11 wins.

The series continues at 6:05 p.m. Saturday. It’s Rock Valley College Fleece Blanket Night, Family Campout Night, Alzheimer Awareness Night and Roxy Carmichael Ladies' Night. The first 1,000 through the gates receive a RiverHawks logo fleece blanket, sponsored by Rock Valley College. The game is not scheduled to be broadcast.
