March 2, 2009 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Two more pitchers with a history of throwing strikes will be in camp with the Rockford RiverHawks this spring.

The RiverHawks announced Monday that they have exercised the 2009 option on left-hander Roy Bringleson and signed rookie right-hander Elliott Cribby.

Bringleson (above), a third-year professional, has spent his entire career with the team. The Homewood resident was 1-3 with five saves and a 5.17 earned-run average in 37 appearances last year. Bringleson struck out 32 and walked 20 over 47 innings.

“His breaking ball is his strength,” manager Bob Koopmann said. “We were able to use him against left-handers in situations. He always did what we asked him to do.”

Bringleson, 25, has 1-Year status in the Frontier League.

Cribby, 23, is a former University of Washington pitcher. He was 1-4 with two saves and a 6.94 ERA last spring. He struck out 34 and walked 10 in 36 1/3 innings. He had a career 2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio with the Huskies.

The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league that will play its 17th season this summer. The RiverHawks will begin their eighth season at 7:05 p.m. May 21 at Windy City and play their home opener at 7:05 p.m. May 26 against the Midwest Sliders of Ypsilanti. The RiverHawks host the 2009 Frontier League All-Star Game at 7:05 p.m. on July 15. Advertising and season-ticket information is available by calling (815) 885-2255.
