June 19, 2011 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – Joey Scumaci is going from paperwork to the mound.
The Rockford RiverHawks announced the signing of the right-handed pitcher Sunday. He will be the starting pitcher for Sunday’s 6:05 p.m. game at Joliet.
Last year, Scumaci was 1-4 with an 8.44 earned-run average in nine appearances with the Windy City ThunderBolts.
Scumaci is a former Lewis University pitcher. He was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association all-Region second team last spring, when he went 8-4 with a 4.10 ERA and 94 strikeouts in his senior season.
