June 7, 2007 - LOVES PARK, Ill. – The Rockford RiverHawks announced today that they have added a catcher and released a pitcher.
The team signed catcher Robert Perkins and released pitcher Bobby Darling.
Perkins, 26, was under contract to the Atlanta Braves in 2000-02, though he has not played in a game since 2000, according to Sportsticker. That year, he hit .214 with two home runs and eight RBI in 112 at-bats with the Braves’ Gulf Coast League affiliate in Orlando.
Darling had no record, no saves and a 5.87 ERA in five games.
The RiverHawks are members of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 15th season.
