The Cardinals took Roper in the 32nd round of the 2003 draft. ... Roper is also the RiverHawks’ pitching coach this year. He is the first person to hold that title since Justin Kees in 2002. … Roper and new RiverHawk Drew Endicott were teammates at the University of Missouri. … In 2005, Roper set team records for starts, hits and earned runs. Josh Tomsu, who won 10 games in 2004, is the only RiverHawk with more wins in a season.
