Last member of the Springfield Capitals on the Rockford roster. Austin broke into pro ball in the Caps' last year in Springfield, and followed the franchise to Rockford. ... Frontier League MVP in 2004, when he hit a league-leading .359 with 15 home runs and 77 RBI. All three were team records at the time -- he still holds the record in the latter two Triple Crown categories. ... First-team Baseball America All-Independent Team member in '04. ... Signed by Kansas City Royals that September, but released in spring training 2005. ... Joined Northern League's Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in 2005 and was MVP of league's all-star game. ... Has played pro ball internationally in the AAA Mexican League and in Italy's Serie A. ... Has won Northern League pennant with Fargo and Serie A title with Fortitudo Bologna. ...
