January 26, 2010 - The Joliet Jackhammers will be the top regional rivalry for the RiverHawks, according to voters in our last online poll.
Of the four Chicagoland opponents the RiverHawks will face in the Northern League, the Jackhammers drew 42 (36 percent) of 1117 total votes. Next up was Schaumburg, with 35 votes (30 percent). The Flyers, who play less than an hour away, are the closest opponent.
The bottom two in the poll are both teams with ties to the Frontier League, the RiverHawks' previous home. Gary, managed by Greg Tagert and with a number of former FL players on the roster, came in third, with 29 votes (25 percent). Expansion team Lake County, managed by Fran Riordan, drew just 11 votes (9 percent). Riordan won three pennants in the Frontier League and holds the league's all-time managerial wins record of 435. Tagert is second on the list, at 412. |
