Familiar faces moving to Northern League
« Back

November 9, 2009 - The RiverHawks will see at least a few familiar and formerly Frontier League faces in the Northern League next year. Frontier League managers Fran Riordan and Chad Parker have each moved from the RiverHawks' old circuit to their new league. In addition, veteran pitcher Ross Stout has been traded to the Northern League.

Riordan, the FL's all-time managerial wins leader, left the Kalamazoo Kings to become manager of the expansion Lake County Fielders. Riordan won 435 games and three pennants in nine seasons as a manager at Richmond and Kalamazoo. Click here for more coverage at the official Northern League site.

Parker, who managed River City into its first playoff appearance since 2000, has gone to the Joliet Jackhammers. Parker was named FL Manager of the Year. Click here for more coverage.

The Jackhammers also acquired Stout from Windy City in exchange for outfielder Tim Alberts. Stout was 13-5 with a 2.94 earned-run average and a league-high 138 strikeouts.
