Most fans not sold on WBC
« Back

April 6, 2009 - About three-quarters of fans voting in the most recent online poll aren't sold on the World Baseball Classic.

Forty-nine percent (29) of 59 voters said they would rather watch spring training. Fifteen percent focus on basketball in March to the exclusion of anything else. Eight percent just plain don't follow baseball until Opening Day.

More than 27 percent support the WBC. The concept of big-leaguers playing for their nation's team is a great concept, according to 22 percent of the voters. Five percent admitted they still miss the Olympic tournament. Baseball was dropped as an Olympic sport for the 2012 Summer Games.
