December 1, 2008 - Rockford fans won't have to worry about the bat of RiverHawk killer Wes Long anymore.
Two-time defending champ Windy City has traded the veteran all-star shortstop to Winnipeg of the Northern League for pitcher Dustin Pease and cash. Long hit .396 against Rockford last season. In the 2007 Division Series, he won Game 1 with a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning. The ThunderBolts swept the 'Hawks in the best-of-five series.
Former major-league pitcher Roger Mason is the new pitching coach in Traverse City. He was part of Detroit's 1984 World Series winner and Philadelphia's 1993 National League pennant.
